Good Morning…Opened the news today and this is what I read online:
Its an article about how thinner, more attractive, more youthful looking women get higher pay, are more prone for promotion, and will get a job over a short, squat, older looking woman. Now, this seems unjust and uncalled for and I can start to hear my inner feminist scream “DAMN IT, THIS IS ALL DUE TO A MAN”… but the truth is, that women are just as likely to judge other women based on their appearance and there is something to be said for a woman who walks into an interview, a board meeting, a conference with her shoulders back, outfit coordinated, makeup applied, and hair done. It’s just the truth of the matter. My good friend Kristen Lum who is amazing at her job as a major PR representative for many businesses in Beijing via her company LumDimSum, always says, ‘Get up, Dress up, and Show up’… And she takes the ‘dressing up’ part very seriously and always look fabulous for any event she is representing. This is why people want to hire her for their openings, promotions, and PR- because she looks the part and people are attracted to her confidence, energy and style. I’m not saying it’s a fair world we live in. Lets face it- it can be mighty shallow out there and sometimes it feels like women get served dish upon dish of bullshit to fuel their insecurities- me being one of them- but that doesn’t mean we just give up and let them win. We play the game. And if that means getting an update on your wardrobe, getting a new haircut, a makeover, getting into a fitness regime- then do it- because these are all things that ultimately will lift your self esteem and help you feel like maybe you can play this little game life has thrown at you. Aaaannnddd…. Speaking of makeovers…hehe- wait for it- shameless plug here… IF you are in need of a makeup/hairstyle update, you should book a one-on-one with me! I can help show you how to bring out your best features and look stunning yet professional for the office. Something that will get you noticed- but in the right ways. My favorite instant self-esteem booster? Yoga, iced coffee, and copious amounts of blush. Ciao Bellas.

So… You should probably help style me since i do PR for Trilogy… With that being said, do these rules apply when you live on a laid back island???
